BIOGRAPHY - DAVID EHSAN MD, DDS
Dr. David Ehsan grew up in California. He was the valedictorian of Washington High School in Fremont, California. After high school he attended the University of the Pacific (UOP) in Stockton, California with a full academic scholarship. At UOP Dr. Ehsan majored in chemistry and pre-dentistry. After college Dr. Ehsan decided to seek training in dentistry because his father and grandfather were dentists.
Dr. Ehsan graduated at the top of his class from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California. He was elected to Tau Kappa Omega (TKO) Honors Society and the exclusive Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) Honors Society. These honors societies are reserved for the top 5% of a graduating class.
After obtaining his dental degree (D.D.S. – Doctor of Dental Surgery) Dr. Ehsan practiced general dentistry in the Bay Area with special emphasis in oral surgery and cosmetic dentistry. Realizing that oral surgery is what he enjoyed and excelled at, he decided to pursue advanced training. Dr. Ehsan was accepted to an internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha, Nebraska.
During his internship Dr. Ehsan became interested in medicine and anesthesia. He subsequently applied and was admitted with advanced standing to the University of Nebraska School of Medicine. Dr. Ehsan graduated medical school with honors and was award a medical degree (M.D. – Medical Doctor).
After medical school Dr. Ehsan did a two-year residency in General Surgery where he concentrated on facial surgery, plastic surgery, and anesthesia. Upon completion of general surgical training he was appointed chief resident in the Department of Surgery, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. During his tenure as chief, Dr. Ehsan performed hundreds of procedures in: dentoalveolar surgery (wisdom teeth), implant surgery, minor and major bone grafting, facial trauma, oral and facial pathology, facial reconstruction, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery, orthognathic surgery, microneurosurgery (nerve repair), and facial plastic/cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Ehsan has written numerous articles and lectured throughout the United States. Dr. Ehsan has been involved in original and state of the art research in anesthesia, implant reconstruction, bone grafting, facial nerve analysis, and repair of gun shot wounds of the face.
Dr. Ehsan is a member of numerous local and national professional organizations including the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, American Dental Association, Academy of Osseointegration, American Society of Dental Anesthesiology and California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Ehsan is dual degreed (medicine and dentistry) and dual board certified (oral/maxillofacial surgery and dental anesthesiology).
Dr. Ehsan enjoys working with patients to improve their orofacial health, function, and appearance.
BIOGRAPHY - VINELA BAKLLAMAJA MD, DDS
Dr. Vinela Bakllamaja was born and raised in Albania. She moved to the United States to attend college at Montclair State University in New Jersey. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Molecular Biology.
Dr. Bakllamaja received her dental degree (D.D.S. – Doctor of Dental Surgery) from University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Dentistry in 2007. She graduated with honors and was inducted in the prestigious national dental society Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Dr. Bakllamaja attended a General Dentistry Program in hospital based dentistry at the VA Palo Alto during which she developed an interest in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Bakllamaja went on to complete her Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at the University of Southern California (USC) as part of a 6 year program during which she also received her medical degree (M.D. – Medical Doctor) from Keck USC School of Medicine in 2012. The program offered extensive training in the full scope of the specialty including maxillofacial trauma, orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial reconstruction, dental implants, oral pathology, and general anesthesia.
Upon completion of her Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Bakllamaja returned to the Bay Area and has been working in private practice. She joined San Francisco Implant Institute and Dr. David Ehsan as an associate in 2017. Dr. Bakllamaja enjoys clinical practice in the private practice setting and prides herself in delivering compassionate comprehensive care to her patients. She believes in lifelong learning and continuing improvement, she participates in many continuing education courses throughout the year. She completed her board certification and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She is a member of several professional organizations including American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Academy of Osseointegration, International Team for Implantology, American Society of Dental Anesthesia.
Dr. Bakllamaja is active in the local dental society and enjoys teaching dental students. She contributes her time to dental society committees as well as serves as a board member of the San Francisco Dental Society. In 2022 she joined the faculty of University of the Pacific (UOP) Arthur Dugoni School of Dentistry as Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery where she volunteers every week in hands-on clinical education.
In her free time Dr. Bakllamaja enjoys spending time with her family, her husband, her parents, and two young children. She is an active participant of her children’s school community as well as board member of the San Francisco Merionettes Artistic Swimming Club where her daughter trains. She enjoys traveling and playing the piano.
BIOGRAPHY - ASHLEY COFFEY DDS
Dr. Ashley Coffey is a Board-Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon dedicated to providing exceptional surgical care with a compassionate, patient-centered approach. She grew up in the historic and picturesque Hudson Valley town of Rhinebeck, New York. Dr. Coffey earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a Pre-Dental concentration from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, before receiving her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City, where she was recognized as a Macy Scholar.
She completed her residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center in New York, serving as Chief Resident during her final year of training. Her residency provided comprehensive, full-scope training in oral and maxillofacial surgery, including dentoalveolar surgery, dental implant surgery, reconstructive surgery, facial trauma, oral pathology, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, and orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery.
Following her residency, Dr. Coffey relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area, where she has worked exclusively in private practice. She specializes in wisdom teeth removal, tooth extractions, dental implant surgery, bone grafting, oral pathology, and office-based anesthesia. With extensive training in IV sedation, she is committed to providing safe, comfortable, and personalized surgical care in the office setting.
Dr. Coffey believes in taking the time to educate her patients, answer questions, and ensure they feel comfortable and confident throughout every step of their treatment. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is an active member of several regional and national professional organizations.
Outside the office, she enjoys hiking, spending time at the beach, and making memories with her husband, their two young daughters, and their golden retriever.
